Was in Brega,Libya listening on a very crackly BBC World Service - being crackly,it wasn't until the next day I heard the correct score....aaah,the days before the 'net

Was there in the chicken run that night.

Just watched it again. Good to see em all sprinting back to the half line after each goal, hungry for more.
(and geno was just class).

If that had been in these times it would be a second string side but then it was full strength every time.

Was on the North Bank for this one. Had a Saturday job at Sainsburys so went to all midweek games I could. I think there was only about 11000 there that night. The one thing I remember most- and I'm glad it was on the video- is Brooking hitting the woodwork with a chip. Glad my memory isn't playing tricks on me.

I was sitting in the old East Stand level with the goal for the first half at the North Bank end. There wasn't a big crowd so, suspecting many more goals, I moved to the other end of the stand for the second half so was level for all ten goals. That won't ever happen again.

I've got no problem with Hilts or his purchase. A decent long-term back-up centre-half who rarely let us down.

Oh how we laughed at the time though.

And let's face it, when else am I going to get the opportunity to use three hyphenated words in a row? Some of them may even be correct.

Not just a centre half but an emergency striker, now that really was the bare bones

It would be like Guardiola buying Feghouli after we played Man City.

I never understood why we bought Hilton after that game

Their centre half looked tasty

Sven Roeder 8:26 Mon Mar 27
Re: West Ham 10 Bury 0 - 1983
ONLY West Ham would then buy their centre half

I ordered the video a few days after the match, it came in the post over a week later and I watched it endlessly.

I always remember the commentator ( club commentator ) pronouncing Cottee wrongly, he kept pronouncing it Co Tee.

I'm pleased to say it's still on my shelf. Happy Days.
